Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday July 18

An area of low pressure will be positioned over western Kansas with high pressure positioned over Minnesota.  Convergence between the two systems will lead to the chance for severe thunderstorms.  There will be a slight chance for severe thunderstorms over northern Kansas and southern Nebraska, including the city of Grand Isle.  There will be a marginal chance for severe thunderstorms over parts of South Dakota, western Missouri, central Kansas, and Arkansas.  Cities with a marginal chance for severe thunderstorms include Kansas City and Omaha. There will be a slight chance for flash flooding over eastern South Dakota, eastern Nebraska, western Iowa, and southwestern Minnesota.  Heat indices of 110 or higher will be focused over Arkansas, eastern Texas, southern California, and southern Arizona.  There will be an elevated risk for wildfires over portions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
